Seeking Guidance on My First European Journey: Berlin & Hamburg or Rome & Tuscany?
I’m gearing up for my inaugural trip to Europe and could use some expert opinions to help me choose between two exciting itineraries. Here’s a bit of background to help you advise me:
Travel Details:
- Departure Point: I will be flying round-trip from the West Coast of the United States, arriving in either Berlin or Rome.
- Travel Companions: For the first part of my trip, I’ll be exploring with a friend—covering the initial two days in either Berlin or Rome.
- Main Interests: I love sightseeing, architecture, wandering through city streets, indulging in diverse cuisines, and meeting people. I’m quite social and enjoy immersing myself in local culture.
- Trip Structure:
- Initial Days: 2 days in either Berlin or Rome with my friend
- Travel: Fly from Berlin/Rome to Prague, then onward to Split, Croatia
- Return: After exploring Prague and Split, I’ll come back to either Berlin or Rome for the final three days, exploring on my own.
Duration & Summary:
- Total time spent in these major cities (excluding Prague and Split): approximately 4–5 days.
- I plan to spend the last three days solo in either Berlin/Hamburg or Rome/Tuscany.
Decision Point:
My question is: which route would you recommend for a first-time visitor eager to enjoy vibrant city life, architecture, gastronomy, and a mix of social and solo adventures? Should I focus on Berlin and Hamburg, or opt for Rome and Tuscany?
I appreciate any insights or suggestions to help me craft an unforgettable European experience!
