Unbiased Evaluation of Underground Metro Systems from My Travel Experiences
Traveling allows us to explore the efficiency and comfort of various metropolitan transit systems worldwide. Drawing from my personal journeys—primarily as someone who resides in London—I’ve compiled an objective ranking of several notable underground metro networks based on factors such as cost-effectiveness, punctuality, cleanliness, and overall travel experience.
It’s important to note that these assessments are subjective and influenced by individual experiences. No system, in my opinion, stands out as outright poor; instead, each offers unique features suited to their respective cities.
Criteria for Evaluation
- Efficiency & Cost-Value: How well the system delivers for the price paid
- Reliability: Frequency and punctuality of trains
- Cleanliness & Maintenance: Overall hygiene and upkeep
- Travel Experience: Comfort, accessibility, and ease of navigation
Note: I intentionally exclude journey time as a primary metric, considering the varying urban scales—London and Paris, being expansive cities, inherently involve longer travel durations.
