I vibe coded so hard that now my dreams are just me telling ChatGPT “Wrong. Do it again.”

The Impact of Intensive Coding Practice on Sleep: A Personal Reflection
In recent weeks, I’ve immersed myself in a new approach to prototyping and development—utilizing ChatGPT to assist with creating mock-ups for my development team. This process involves a lot of copy-pasting, testing code snippets in CodePen, and iteratively breaking and fixing functionalities. To clarify, I had little to no prior coding experience until about a week ago, and since then, this new workflow has become an integral part of my creative routine.
What’s surprising, however, is how this intense engagement with AI-assisted coding has begun to seep into my subconscious mind. Lately, I’ve found myself dreaming of coding—specifically, dreaming that I am instructing ChatGPT to correct errors. The repetitive scenario involves me persistently telling the AI that the code is incorrect, requesting fixes, and then being told the same issues remain unresolved. It feels like a continuous loop of trying, failing, and requesting rework, with my mind visualizing countless CodePen previews unfolding endlessly.
It’s important to note that these aren’t typical nightmares—they’re more like mental loopings that disturb restful sleep. While somewhat humorous, this experience highlights the profound mental engagement that coding—especially in unfamiliar modes like AI-assisted development—can induce. It also gives me newfound empathy for seasoned developers who have long grappled with such cognitive overload during intense coding sessions.
Have any fellow developers or enthusiasts experienced similar aftereffects? Do you find that extended periods of “vibe coding” influence your dreams or mental state outside of work hours? Share your experiences and insights—perhaps the boundary between conscious coding and subconscious processing is more intertwined than we realize.
