Enhancing Blog Content with Chain of Thought Prompting Using GPT and Promptify
In the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-powered content creation, innovative techniques are continually emerging to help writers produce more coherent and high-quality posts. Recently, I experimented with a method known as chain of thought prompting—a powerful approach that leverages GPT’s reasoning capabilities to generate more insightful and well-structured content. I’d like to share how this technique, combined with my Chrome extension Promptify, has significantly improved my blogging process.
Introducing Chain of Thought Prompting
At its core, chain of thought prompting involves guiding AI models like GPT through a series of intermediate questions or steps before arriving at the final response. Instead of directly asking GPT to produce an entire blog post, you first engage it in a sequence of preparatory prompts—building a strong context and encouraging logical reasoning. This process results in outputs that are more comprehensive, relevant, and thoughtfully constructed.
Demonstration Using Promptify
To illustrate this, I created a short GIF demonstrating how chain of thought prompting works with Promptify, a Chrome extension designed to streamline prompt management. Check out the GIF here. Although this particular feature is new and not yet available in Promptify, the extension already offers robust capabilities: creating detailed JSON prompt structures, organizing and saving prompt templates, refining prompts, and even generating simple prompts—all for free.
How It Works in Practice
In my demonstration, I initiated a series of questions related to GPT’s capabilities and prompt engineering principles. These preliminary prompts helped establish a solid context, enabling GPT to generate a cohesive blog post about linear algebra. The entire process was fully automated, illustrating how chain of thought reasoning can significantly enhance content quality and coherence.

The main advantage of this approach is the ability to produce well-thought-out content with minimal manual intervention, thanks to the AI’s reasoning steps. This technique is particularly useful for complex topics, where structured thinking can illuminate nuanced concepts effectively.
While I just developed this feature today, I’m excited about its potential and eager to hear feedback. I’m currently offering it for free and considering whether to integrate it as a permanent feature within Promptify.
