Exploring Europe Solo: A Well-Balanced 10-Week Itinerary
Embarking on a solo journey through Europe is an exciting adventure filled with new sights, experiences, and personal growth. After planning my first solo trip across the continent, I’ve designed a 10-week itinerary that aims to strike a balance between immersing myself in each destination and allowing ample time for travel and rest. Here, I’m sharing my route, transportation methods, and accommodation choices, hoping to inspire others considering a similar voyage.
Overview of My European Solo Journey
My trip spans from September through mid-November, encompassing a diverse array of cities renowned for their history, culture, and vibrant atmospheres. The core transportation mode is train travel via Eurail pass, complemented by a few flights where necessary. Most train journeys are relatively short—typically between 2 to 4 hours—making travel manageable and less exhausting. Accommodations are primarily hostels situated within a short walk from train stations, ensuring convenience and easy access upon arrival.

Famed for Renaissance art and architecture, Florence will be my base for immersing myself in Italy’s cultural heritage over four days. The journey to Venice is a 2-hour train ride. -
Venice, Italy (1 night)
While Venice hasn’t been at the top of my personal bucket list, I’ve decided to spend a night there to experience its unique waterways and architecture firsthand—something I might regret missing later. From Venice, I’ll travel to Bologna in 2 hours. -
Bologna, Italy (3 nights)
Known for its medieval towers and culinary excellence, Bologna will be a relaxed stop before heading north. The train to Munich will take around 6.5 hours, marking a longer travel day. -
