Travel Itinerary Review: Exploring Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, and Hungary

Embarking on a Solo European Journey: An In-Depth Travel Plan

Greetings fellow travelers,
As a 32-year-old Australian woman planning a solo expedition through Europe from mid-November to early December, I am seeking insights and feedback on my current itinerary. My journey begins and concludes in Frankfurt, with a route designed to minimize backtracking while allowing me to immerse myself in the rich history, architecture, and unique cultural offerings of each destination. My preferred mode of transportation is primarily train travel, with a single internal flight included.

Travel Style and Interests
My traveling style involves leisurely exploration—wandering through city streets, admiring historic architecture, absorbing local history, and visiting notable attractions. I am not interested in strenuous hikes or day trips; instead, I seek to experience each city at a relaxed pace. Additionally, as a boutique enthusiast and a fan of alternative, goth, and metal aesthetics, I am keen to explore markets and shops that offer locally-made jewelry, trinkets, and other unique souvenirs.

Proposed Itinerary Overview

Frankfurt to Cologne (2 nights)
Starting with a brief stay in Frankfurt, I plan to travel directly to Cologne to rest after a long 27-hour journey. My main priority here is to visit the iconic Cologne Cathedral and recover from travel fatigue.

Cologne to Prague (4 nights)
From Cologne, I will take a train to Prague—spending four nights immersed in its historic charm. I initially considered including Munich (adding two nights) and then traveling onward to Prague, but I am contemplating skipping Munich altogether. This decision hinges on whether I should prioritize Wroclaw, Poland, which I find visually captivating.

Potential Detour to Rothenburg ob der Tauber
I thought about adding a night in Rothenburg, a picturesque medieval town, but it appears to be a detour from my main route. Given my limited time and travel preferences, I might save Rothenburg for a future visit.

Prague to Wroclaw (2-3 nights)
Traveling from Prague to Wroclaw, Poland, seems like an appealing way to break up the journey to Krakow. I am considering staying two or three nights in Wroclaw due to its intriguing architecture and unique atmosphere.
