Planning a Memorable Two-Week Journey Through Italy and Switzerland: Highlights, Countryside, and Cultural Experiences in May 2026

Embarking on a European adventure offers an incredible blend of history, scenic landscapes, and cultural immersion. As a family with diverse travel experiences, we are excited to share our preliminary itinerary for a two-week trip across Italy and Switzerland in May 2026. Our group includes my wife, our son, and my parents—making this trip particularly special as it will likely be my parents’ first and only journey to Europe.

Our travel style leans towards rural exploration and scenic drives, preferring the tranquility of the countryside over lengthy museum visits. Having extensively road-tripped across North America, we aim for a balanced itinerary that maximizes experiences without feeling overly rushed, while still maintaining a more dynamic pace than some traditional travel plans.

Below is our current plan, and we welcome feedback and suggestions to enhance our journey.
