Developing an AI-Driven Email Assistant for Streamlined School Communications

In today’s fast-paced world, managing the influx of school-related communications can be overwhelming for parents. Recognizing this challenge, I am currently developing a personal AI assistant designed to streamline the process of sorting and prioritizing school emails. My goal is to create a tool that efficiently identifies and highlights important information—such as upcoming events, reminders, newsletters, and attachments—so parents can stay informed without the hassle of sifting through every message.

The project leverages n8n, an open-source automation platform, alongside the OpenAI API to analyze and interpret email content. This setup enables the AI to detect key details like dates, attachments, and relevant keywords within emails, providing a concise summary of what requires immediate attention.

The inspiration behind this initiative stems from my own experiences as a parent managing numerous school emails, which sometimes leads to missing critical updates. By automating the filtering process, I hope to reduce stress and ensure important information doesn’t slip through the cracks. Additionally, I believe this tool could be valuable for fellow parents facing similar challenges.

Professionally, I work full-time in Quality Assurance, but I am passionate about transitioning into artificial intelligence roles. Building practical projects like this serves as an invaluable learning experience, helping me develop skills and deeper understanding of AI applications.
