While these tools offer convenience, they also risk promoting superficial understanding and encouraging shortcut solutions. The core challenge is not AI itself but how we integrate it into our learning habits.
Reframing the Approach: From Banning to Building Better Tools
Rather than opposing AI outright, my goal has been to rethink its role in education. I recognized that rather than attempting to prohibit AI use—an impractical endeavor—I could develop a tool designed to promote genuine comprehension and critical thinking. This led me to create Noesislab, a Socratic AI Mentor aimed at transforming passive consumption into active learning.

Noesislab is built on a fundamental principle: it refuses to provide direct answers. Instead, it functions as a disciplined yet helpful tutor, guiding users through a series of Socratic questions and hints. This method compels learners to analyze, reflect, and construct solutions independently—aligning with educational philosophies that prioritize understanding over memorization.
To make this approach engaging and sustainable, I incorporated gamification elements such as experience points (XP) and streaks, rewarding the effort students invest in their cognitive development. This design incentivizes continued engagement and helps mitigate the temptation of seeking instant gratification through simple AI answers.
