As an active user frequently leveraging AI for document creation, coding, and reasoning tasks, my experience offers some insights into how GPT-5.2 stacks up against other prominent models like Gemini and Claude.

A Journey Through the AI Models

My journey with AI began in early 2024 when I started using ChatGPT, initially with GPT-4 and its subsequent iterations. Early on, GPT delivered impressive results, but I observed that the Gemini model at that time was underwhelming and did not meet my expectations. Consequently, I relied heavily on GPT for my daily tasks.

However, the landscape shifted when Gemini released its 2.5 model. I found that version to surpass GPT in reasoning capabilities, prompting me to incorporate it into my workflow more extensively. During this period, I transitioned back to GPT, appreciating its informational depth and versatility. Nonetheless, the release of Gemini 3.0 prompted a reassessment, leading me to completely pivot away from ChatGPT and cancel my Plus subscription. Gemini’s enhancements in document generation and logical reasoning models truly impressed me.

A critical aspect of my AI utilization is document creation. I have consistently tested these models using identical prompts across Gemini, Claude, and GPT-5.2. The results were striking: both Gemini and Claude delivered markedly better, more coherent, and detailed documents compared to GPT-5.2.

In particular, GPT-5.2 seems to be a streamlined or reduced version of GPT-5, which raises concerns about its depth and versatility. This suggests that OpenAI may need to invest further in refining GPT-5.2 to match or exceed the capabilities of its competitors.

While GPT-5.2 has made meaningful progress, it still lags behind the advanced reasoning, coding, and document generation performance demonstrated by Gemini and Claude.
