Join the Future of Community Moderation: Testing an AI-Powered Moderation Tool

Are you experienced in managing online communities and interested in exploring cutting-edge moderation technology? We invite moderators from all platforms to participate in a pioneering user study testing a new AI-driven moderation system developed by researchers at KAIST’s Interaction Lab.

About the Project

Led by Ph.D. candidate Hyunwoo Kim, this initiative aims to streamline community moderation by leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to convert community rules into actionable moderation logic—such as approving, removing, or flagging content—with an additional human-in-the-loop verification step. This project seeks to evaluate the effectiveness and usability of the tool through direct feedback from experienced moderators.

What Participants Will Do

Participants will engage in a remote, 1.5-hour session via Zoom, during which they will:

  • Experiment with the system by crafting moderation rules tailored to their own or a hypothetical community.
  • Provide valuable feedback on the tool’s functionality, ease of use, and potential improvements.

Ideal Candidates

We are seeking:

  • Moderators with experience across any online community platform, including Reddit, Discord, forums, or chat servers.
  • Those familiar with moderation automation tools like AutoMod are a plus, but prior experience is not mandatory.
  • Multiple moderators from the same community are encouraged to participate.

Additional Details

  • Compensation: A $70 Amazon gift card for participation.
  • Schedule: Sessions will commence within the next 1–2 weeks.
  • Ethical Approval: The study has received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval from KAIST (Approval no. KAISTIRB-2025-237). For transparency, you can contact the IRB at [email protected].
  • Limitations: Please note, this session does not involve actual moderation decisions; it is solely for feedback on the prototype.
